Laurent Tourondel to open at Hotel Café Royal
High profile French chef Laurent Tourondel is opening a restaurant at London’s Hotel Café Royal.

It will be his first restaurant in Europe, although he did work in London at Boodles in his formative years.

Tourondel is best known in the US where he has been involved with restaurants in New York, Miami and Charlotte in North Carolina. He also runs restaurants in locations as far flung as Hong Kong, the Caribbean and Kazakhstan.

Designed by contemporary Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni, the new and as yet unnamed restaurant is expected to open in May.

The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Regent Street hotel in the same space that has hosted residencies from the likes of Albert Adria, the Roca brothers and Paco Roncero.

Details about the new menu and price point are sparse, but diners can expect a modern French menu with international influences.

“I am thrilled to be returning to London. Having worked for years at Boodles, I cannot wait to create a new home in the iconic Hotel Café Royal,” says Tourondel.

Dinos Tagkalos will be overseeing the restaurant as general manager having recently launched the Henrietta Hotel in Covent Garden where he was responsible for the restaurant and bar operation.

Sam Heathcote (Bulgari Hotel, The Clove Club, Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester) will oversee the wine programme as head sommelier and Fabio Spinetti (The Connaught) will look after the wider beverage offering across all of Hotel Café Royal’s outlets.
