Salt Pig restaurant and cocktail bar to open in Dorking this month
A new restaurant is opening in Surrey this month, serving British-inspired plates in a Grade II listed building.

Located on West Street in Dorking, Salt Pig will open on 22 March as both a cocktail bar and an 80-cover restaurant.

The menu will comprise a selection of bar snacks as well as an a la carte offering.

Snacks will include pork crackling and ham croquettes, made with local and seasonal produce.

Starters will include classic dishes such as prawn cocktail and Scotch egg.

Main dishes will be traditional, including the likes of traditional pies; and guinea fowl with truffle mash.

Rhubarb, vanilla and cardamom rice pudding; and lemon tart will be on offer for dessert.

Regularly changing daily specials will champion local produce, alongside a wine menu that complements the food offering.

The Grade II listed property has been restored to provide a “cosy” environment, with the option of a 20-cover private dining room for events.

“We have worked tirelessly to restore the character of the building and perfect the menu and service to create an independent restaurant we are truly proud of,” says proprietor James Varela.

“I’m delighted to be opening in such a beautiful building and location. The overwhelming support of the people of Dorking has been very welcoming and we hope it will be a restaurant the community can be proud of.”
