Wahaca targets tech-savvy Millennials with Facebook Messenger 'first'

Working with technology partner, Flyt, in an industry first diners at the Mexican restaurant chain can retrieve, split and pay their bill through Messenger.
"As a key Facebook Messenger partner, Flyt is enabling new services within the biggest platform in the world and offering operators the opportunity to rapidly innovate,” says Flyt CEO Tom Weaver.
The news was announced at the annual F8 Conference, which featured speakers including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg told audiences that the company would be redesigning Messenger to make it a more “simple and fast experience”.
Wahaca is one of the UK’s restaurant chains that is embracing a number of new technologies to improve customer experience and improve its operations. It currently uses a QuickPay app that also allows people to split and pay the bill and which also connects with Google Maps and Citymapper to help users find the closest Wahaca to them. Through the app customers can even tap into the restaurant’s music system and see what’s playing.
More recently it entered a trial with data-driven menu development platform Yumpingo to collect customer feedback at a dish-by-dish level.
