Clipstone and Portland team to launch events company
The team behind Michelin-starred London restaurant Portland will launch an external catering arm of its company this spring.

Woodhead Group founders Will Lander and Daniel Morgenthau will launch Portland Events this month, offering menus tailored to each event by head chef Merlin Labron-Johnson.

The company will be available to hire for canapé receptions; corporate events; photoshoots; and dinner parties.

Inspiration for Portland Events dishes will also be taken from the menus at Woodhead Group’s restaurants Clipstone and Quality Chop House.

Dishes will include the likes of crudites with smoked cod’s roe and herb oil; crudo of halibut with raw peaches, elderflower and watercress; aged beef rump cap with beetroot, smoked aubergine and beetroot jus; and pistachio and raspberry millefeuille.

Drinks will be the same as at Portland, with the events company using the same wine list and cellar for its events.

"Portland has a wealth of creative talent amongst its ranks but will always be physically confined to one restaurant on Great Portland Street,” says co-founder Lander.

“Portland Events allows us to share our efforts and our creativity with a broader group of people and provide something bespoke."

Portland opened in 2015, securing a Michelin star in the same year.

It has been widely acclaimed for its creative, ingredient-led cooking.
