UberEats buys online ordering platform OrderTalk
UberEats has announced the acquisition of restaurant technology provider OrderTalk for an undisclosed sum.

The Dallas-based company provides online ordering software and POS integration for 5,500 restaurant sites including PizzaExpress and Prezzo, processing more than $1bn sales a year.

Its chairman Maurice Abboudi, who is also executive director at London Japanese chain K10, is stepping down following the sale.

Abboudi says OrderTalk’s software will help reduce errors and integrate online orders made through UberEats more seamlessly in to restaurant systems.

“Delivery orders from third parties have fast become one of the most significant revenue streams for restaurants…however, the technology to receive orders has historically been cumbersome and operationally challenging and expensive for restaurants to manage,” says Abboudi.

“This will greatly reduce the amount of errors that can arise when manually entering orders and will help to streamline restaurant workflow so orders go directly to the kitchen. This development is a game changer for the industry.”

UberEats launched in the UK in 2016 and is live in over 40 towns and cities, with plans to roll out to another 40 locations.
