Hungryhouse shuts down after 12 years
Online takeaway site Hungryhouse has shut down after 12 years following its sale to rival Just Eat.

The company, which was sold for £200m in December 2016, stopped taking orders yesterday (22 May) after announcing its imminent closure last month.

Hungryhouse’s website is now directing customers to order through Just Eat.

Just Eat’s takeover bid was investigated by the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) last year over concerns that it could result in worse terms for restaurants due to the similarity of their services.

The decision was green-lit in November, before the merger was confirmed this year.

JustEat's website states: "When one door closes another one opens...Just Eat and Hungryhouse have worked hard to make sure as many of your favourite restaurants are available to order from on Just Eat and to deliver you the best takeaway experience possible."
