Lady of the Grapes will serve around 100 organic, biodynamic and natural wines – with more than half produced by female winemakers.
It is the brainchild of Carole Bryon, who ran Grocery Wine Vault in Shoreditch for two years and wants to highlight the number of women taking charge of vineyards.
She says her aim is to create a “distinctive, authentic and cosy” space, that will be a “non-pretentious place for people who care about what they eat and drink”.
Chef Victor Garvey, whose restaurant Encant used to occupy the site, has created a menu of southern French-inspired dishes and sharing boards for the bar.
A selection of wine, cheese and charcuterie will also be available to take away from the deli section.
