Albion & East restaurant group will open casual Italian café and bar Cattivo on the former site of Cabana on Brixton’s Ferndale Road in October.
The opening will be the fourth in the group’s portfolio, and its second Brixton site. Its offering will differ from its sister restaurants, which focus on American-inspired brunch and pizza.
Located just around the corner from Canova Hall, Cattivo’s ground level will serve southern Italian small plates such as home-cooked ragu; meatballs; and filled pasta dishes.
Downstairs, a cocktail bar will offer late night entertainment as well as gin blending and cocktail masterclasses.
“We’re super excited to introduce Cattivo to the vibrant Brixton neighbourhood,” says Albion & East managing director Sarah Weir.
“It complements our sister bar Canova Hall but offers something different and continues to add to the energetic Brixton night life and restaurant scene.”
Backed by hospitality investor Imbiba, Albion & East is in the process of expanding its restaurant portfolio, with an opening planned for near Old Street in early 2019. It will be the second east London location for the group, which opened Martello Hall in Hackney in 2016.
