The hit cooking show will pay tribute to 70 years of the National Health Service when it kicks off at 7.30pm on BBC Two.
The first heat will be held in the North East region and sees the return of chef Danny Parker (Jesmond Dene House, formerly House of Tides), who was knocked out following a tense tie-break last year.
He will be taking on newcomers Dan Fletcher, a protégé of Phil Howard who is head chef at Fenchurch in the City of London, and David Coulson, who runs 2-AA-Rosette Peace and Loaf in Newcastle.
Throughout the week their dishes will be overseen by a surprise veteran judge, before being tasted by returning judges Andi Oliver, Oliver Peyton and Matthew Fort on Friday.
The trio will be joined by guest judge Dr Anne Weaver, lead clinician with the London Air Ambulance.
The chefs compete for their home region, rather than the area where their restaurants are located.
