Award-winning Suffolk chef secures second site
The owner of Bury-St-Edmunds’ award winning restaurant Ben’s, is set to open his second restaurant in the historic market town.

Ben Hutton will open Queens Bar and Grill just a few doors down from his debut restaurant on Churchgate Street in August.

Using a £30,000 funding package from NatWest, Hutton secured the lease of a closed-down pub formerly called The Queen’s Head, which he aims to return to its "former glory".

The new restaurant and bar will be quite different to the chef’s first restaurant, which built its reputation on its high-end farm-to-fork menu.

Queens Bar and Grill will have an American-inspired grill menu, with a large bar offering and a space to host live music and show sports matches.

“Queens Bar and Grill is predominantly a bar with a simplistic grill style menu for a more informal drinking and dining experience,” says Hutton.

“I look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces as we re-establish The Queens Bar and Grill as part of the community.”

Hutton launched Ben’s Restaurant, in 2014, serving a menu predominantly sourced from Suffolk producers, as well as his own farm where he raises pigs and sheep.

The chef says that he will aim to continue expanding his restaurant portfolio after the Queen’s Bar and Grill is running successfully.
