The Pass It On programme is designed to help people involved with running social and community-focused food projects in London.
This could include site visits from members of the St John team, advice and mentoring.
Candidates will also have the chance to spend time in St John’s bakeries, kitchens, bars and front of house. The group is set to launch its first permanent retail bakery in London's Neal's Yard this month.
Writing in London Food Link's Jellied Eel magazine, St John co-founder Trevor Gulliver says: “We know that we have a responsibility for much in the wider world but also wanted to do something local, something that our folk could become engaged with directly and see the benefit of too.
“Since meeting folk there who are engaged in various great, inspirational and local businesses, we realised that little things matter. Little things, maybe, but that hopefully will help bigger things to happen.”
Anyone who runs a community-centric foodservice company is encouraged to apply for a place on the scheme through the website for London Food Link - which is part of food and farming charity Sustain.
