'Affordable luxury': Black Cod & Wagyu comes to Soho

A new residency called Black Cod & Wagyu launches on 1 October and takes over the bar area of Zelman Meats in Soho.
The menu, developed by executive head chef Olly Bird, will feature black cod cooked in miso and 200g wagyu steaks for £15 each at lunch and £20 at dinner.
Five starters will also be on the menu - tiger prawn tempura; lobster croquetas; hot and sour wagyu beef tartare; tuna tartare; and burrata, while side dishes will include som tam salad and lobster fried rice.
The company says its mission is to make premium foods that diners might ordinarily rule out as being too expensive, or only order very occasionally as an indulgence, accessible and affordable.
“But no corners will be cut in delivering the highest-quality experience; the room will be opulently decorated with huge fish tanks and bold Japanese-inspired illustration, and the food will be beautifully presented on vintage-style china,” it says.
There's currently no end date for the residency, which the company says will run for as long as there’s demand.
Bookings for the 30-cover residency can be made via Instagram.
