International restaurateur Alexandros Andrianopoulos will launch a restaurant, bar and private lounge on the site of the former Cartier watchmakers’ headquarters.

Onima will launch in the five-storey Avery Street townhouse in Mayfair on 1 November, and aims to offer a “complete luxury lifestyle experience”.

The ground floor restaurant will serve a menu of Mediterranean and Asian fusion dishes. The menu will include the likes of beef tartare with orange ponzu sauce, heritage tomatoes and celery; king crab salad with seaweed and caviar dressed with yuzu, spring onion and truffle; and pineapple carpaccio with cardamom, star anise and coconut panna cotta.

A cocktail menu will be available in both the restaurant and bar areas of the venue, as well as in the private lounge when it launches later in the year. Cocktails will include the likes of the Purple Rain, made with mescal and grapefruit, cardamom, prickly pear, aquafaba and soda.

Greek design company Archset will give each level of the space a slightly different design, with the first floor featuring armchairs, sofas and natural light, and the first floor being given a darker façade with burnished metal and polished walnut wood.

Founder Andrianopoulos takes his experience from managing restaurants such as Nammos and Interni in Mykonos, as well as assisting with the launches of Bathtub Gin in New York and Bagatelle in Dubai.

The five-storey concept will launch its private lounge area a few months after the initial launch.

Onima joins an upmarket neighbourhood, counting a number of high-end fashion shops and retailers as its neighbours.
