D&D London reveals details of second New York restaurant
D&D London has revealed details of its second New York restaurant, Queensyard, set to open in March 2019.

The group has taken an 11,142 sq ft space on the fourth floor of the luxury Hudson Yards retail, office and residential development on Manhattan’s West Side.

D&D says the Queensyard menu will blend ‘modern New York cuisine with classic and contemporary British dishes’, and it is in the process of hiring a New York-based chef to lead the kitchen.

It follows the launch of D&D’s first overseas Bluebird restaurant opposite Central Park earlier this year.

“We think Queensyard will offer something for everyone – a sophisticated yet accessible dining and drinking experience with unprecedented views of Manhattan’s skyline,” says Des Gunewardena, chief executive of D&D London.

Approximately 24 restaurants will open at Hudson Yards, ranging from fast casual to high end concepts from chefs such as Thomas Keller and Momofuku’s David Chang. London catering company Rhubarb is also launching a restaurant at the scheme in partnership with former Duck & Waffle chef Dan Doherty.

D&D is among a growing number of British restaurant operators that have crossed the pond to open in New York over the past few years. Both Burger & Lobster and Wagamama have launched in the city since 2015, while Hawskmoor will join them with its first overseas restaurant in 2019.

Speaking to BigHospitality earlier this year, Gunewardena said a poorly managed Brexit could see the group shift its attention to growth outside the UK.

D&D currently owns and operates 41 restaurants and a hotel, the majority of which are UK-based.
