Chef Brett Barnes to oversee Barley gastropub

Brett Barnes, who has also worked at the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome, Arbutus, and HIX, will take the reins at The Fox & Hounds in Barley when it reopens in April.
The 17th century pub has been closed since 2012, but was acquired last year by property developer Colin Blundell and his friend Robin Skidmore.
Barnes will serve a daily-changing menu, combining “traditional pub classics with more progressive and seasonal dishes”, using local suppliers and produce grown in the pub’s own garden.
“The Fox & Hounds has been a focal point of the community for centuries, but sadly it’s been closed for nearly seven years and has required some serious TLC to restore it to its 350-year-old glory,” says Barnes.
“I’ve been looking to open my own restaurant for some time so when Robin and Colin came to me with this opportunity, I couldn’t wait to get started!”
