The list of Ed’s Easy Diner and Giraffe sites to close under the Company Voluntary Agreement (CVA) covering the two brands has been revealed.

Documents seen by BigHospitality’s sister site MCAshow the Ed’s sites in Bromley, Cambridge Extra services, Glasgow St Enoch, Mayfair and Peterborough Extra services are covered by CVA proposals.

A shakestand at Birmingham Grand Central will also close, although all employees will be redeployed to the full-service restaurant in the centre. This will leave a remaining estate of 16 sites.

Meanwhile the following Giraffe sites are also set to close: Aberdeen, Basingstoke, Blackheath, Bluewater, Brighton, Bromley, Bury St Edmunds, Castleford, Chelmsford, Eldon Square, Guildford, Holland Park, Lakeside, Manchester Trafford Centre, Milton Keynes – Kingston Centre, Milton Keynes – MK Centre, Norwich, Reading, Walton-on-Thames, Watford and York Monks Cross.

There will be 24 Giraffe locations remaining.

The CVA proposal for Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG) subsidiary, Giraffe Concepts Ltd, would also see reduced rents sought in a further 13 sites.

If the CVA is approved by creditor on 21 March it will trigger fresh investment from BRG, which is thought to be willing to plough a further £10m in to the estate.

It is understood that the investment will principally be focused on refreshing the offer in the remaining estate, but also on converting a number of sites to the Slim Chickens brand, for which BRG holds the UK licence.
