The Langham hotel in London is to launch a cookery school with classes by Michel Roux Jr and executive chef Chris King later this year.

Sauce at The Langham promises to offer participants “trade secrets” with experiences inspired by all the restaurants at the five-star hotel, including Roux at The Landau - which has been run in partnership between Roux and the hotel since 2010 - and The Wigmore.

Five ‘building block’ classes will focus on ‘core’ basics such as knife skills, sauces or baking.

More premium courses will include patisserie skills with Andrew Gravett, The Langham’s executive pastry chef, or an exploration of the Roux archive of recipes with King.

“The facilities for the new cookery school are exceptional,” says Roux.

“We’re going to have a perfect environment to share our passion for good food with like-minded home cooks at whatever their skill level.  Cooking should be first and foremost enjoyable, and we’re looking forward to providing a real confidence boost so that everyone can be proud of what they achieve.”

Sauce at The Langham launches in mid-May 2019. Classes start at £150 and can include up to 12 people per session.
