Core by Clare Smyth joins World's 50 Best Restaurants longlist
Four UK restaurants, all located in London, have made the longlist with Core by Clare Smyth a new entry in 66th position.
Dinner by Heston Blumenthal (45th in 2018) and The Ledbury (42nd in 2018) have both dropped out of the top 50 this year, falling to 83rd and 64th position respectively.
St John also slipped down the rankings to 112th after placing 84th in 2018.
Mikael Jonsson’s Hedone (98th in 2018) is absent from the list following its closure on 1 June. Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck in Bray also does not feature after placing 74th last year, as it has joined the new ‘Best of the Best’ category alongside all the restaurants which have been voted No.1 in the event’s 17-year history.
The 51-100 longlist has been expanded this year to mark the 120th anniversary of the event’s lead sponsor, S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants will announce its new top 50 list for 2019 at a ceremony in Singapore next week.
In 2018 only four UK restaurants made the cut, including Lyle’s (38th) and The Clove Club (33rd) – both in Shoreditch.
