Opening in Leicester’s Highcross shopping centre, Tandem marks the launch of Indian-born chef’s newest project and is described as ‘a celebration of authentic Indian cuisine and cocktail mixology’.
The menu has been crafted by Todiwala using traditional Indian cooking techniques, with the flavours designed to span the Indian subcontinent.
With 150 covers, the interior design features a mixture of Portuguese and Goan influences, and will include an exclusive chef’s table and rooftop terrace.
“Tandem is an exciting concept which offers something different to my other restaurants but takes inspiration from what we know our customers love,” says Todiwala.
“It was important to me to fully showcase the beauty of Indian cuisine by using traditional cooking techniques and influences from my personal experience.”
Arriving in England in 1991, Todiwala opened Café Spice Namasté in Whitechapel back in 1995.
He co-founded the Zest Quest Asia student catering competition in 2013, and has an MBE for his services to education and an OBE for his contribution to the hospitality industry.
