Milroy’s to open second London bar

Set over four floors, Milroy’s Townhouse will offer a specialist Whisky Bar, a Cocktail Bar and a Private Members Club including cigar terrace and personalised whisky lockers.
Milroy’s, which opened the doors to its first site on Greek Street more than 50 years ago, claims to be ‘London’s oldest whisky specialist’.
The Greek Street site is said to hold the largest collection of whisky in London and leads to Milroy’s award-winning basement bar The Vault, which is accessed through a secret entrance hidden behind a bookcase at the back of the shop.
With three bars, the new Spitalfields townhouse site will be considerably bigger with space for 150 covers in total.
Milroy’s of Soho was founded by John ‘Jack’ Milroy in 1964, and was originally conceived as a wine shop.
However, working with his bother Wallace, Jack eventually branched out the business to include sherries, Champagnes and whiskeys.
Between them, John and Wallace eventually established Milroy’s as a whisky institution with John going on to bottle many whiskies under his own name, and Wallace writing the still revered Malt Whisky Almanac.
