Husband and wife team Ramin and Jane Mostowfi, who ran Food for Friends for nearly 15 years, will open Kindling with an emphasis on ‘food that is kind to the environment and good for the soul’.
Focusing on seasonality, the menu will feature both meat and plant-based dishes, with much of food cooked on an open wood and charcoal fire.
There will also be a smaller snacks menu with options including cauliflower cheese croquettes; hash browns topped with crème fraiche and salmon roe; and crispy fish bones.
Featuring an open kitchen, the design of the 46-cover dining room will be ‘inspired by the restaurant’s land + sea + fire concept’.
Ramin and Jane say the idea behind Kindling was to create a restaurant that ‘re-writes the rules by doing dining better’.
“Our ethos is all about the thoughtful details and the stories behind our food and local producers,” says the pair.
Former St John chef Toby Geneen will oversee the kitchen, while Phillip Scott (also from St John) will manage the front of house.
