Wagamama spin-off Mamago to open in the City this year

The food-to-go concept is set to launch on London’s Fenchurch Street in the final quarter of this year.
TRG first announced plans for Mamago in March following its £559m acquisition of Wagamama in late 2018.
Writing in its interim results released today (3 September), TRG describes Mamago as “inspired by the Wagamama core business”.
It says it will offer “a menu of made to order pan-Asian cuisine ranging from grab-and-go adaptions of Wagamama classics like Katsu [curry] to new and innovative, nutritionally-balanced and flavour-packed dishes built for breakfast and lunch".
TRG opened its first Wagamama delivery kitchen in Hackney in July, and says it plans to open at least two further delivery sites by 2020.
Like for like sales at Wagamama rose 10.6% in the six months to 30 June 2019, while adjusted EBITDA grew to £51.4m.
TRG is planning to convert 15 of its existing sites in its Leisure restaurants arm, which includes Chiquito's and Frankie & Benny's, to the Wagamama brand by 2021.
