Featuring an ‘art deco-inspired setting’, Apple Butter’s first location in Covent Garden will serve a menu of home-made desserts ‘with a twist’ as well as salads and sandwiches.
London-based restaurant agency Restaurant Property advised its Qatar-based owners the Adara Group on the purchase of the former Balans Soho Society site on Monmouth Street, Seven Dials.
The brand already has plans to expand, although no locations have been confirmed yet.
Apple Butter is not the only Middle Eastern café brand currently looking to make a splash in the capital.
Last month, Saudi Arabian coffee company Bafarat opened its first international café in Soho serving patisserie, teas and coffees including an Arabic blend spiced with saffron and cardamom.
The family-run business – founded in Jeddah in 1952 as a coffee, herb and spice importer – has already said it is planning several further London openings with Omar Bafarat, grandson of the company’s founder, saying he hopes to bring his family’s knowledge of coffee to a “new, premium audience” in the capital.
