The red book surprised chef Alex Bond with the announcement on Friday (4 October), ahead of the revelation of the full list later today.

A former chef at Restaurant Sat Bains, Bond launched fine dining site Alchemilla in August 2017 as his first solo venture.

The chef took to Instagram to thank his team, writing: “So yesterday we were awarded Britain’s first Michelin star for 2020. It’s been the most incredible journey so far with some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met.”

The red book has already awarded 22 new Bib Gourmands, given to restaurants serving three courses for £28 and under, for 2020.

Thirty-three sites also lost their Bibs, view the full list here.

Michelin will announce its full roster of new stars at a live event at The Hurlingham Club in London, starting at 4pm today. Keep an eye on BigHospitality for all the new stars and deletions in the year’s guide.
