India's Copper Chimney opens first UK site
The brand, which operates 15 restaurants across five Indian cities including Kolkata and Bangalore, describes itself as a ‘pioneer’ of contemporary Indian cuisine.
Founded in Mumbai in 1972, Copper Chimney aims to explore regional cuisines from areas such as Delhi.
Each dish on the menu states which region it draws inspiration from, with signature appetisers including Amritsari shrimp; and Delhi-style fried chicken.
The menu also includes a selection of tandoor-grilled meats that are marinated for eight hours prior to cooking; original recipe butter chicken; and Bazaar ke Chole, a dish of chickpeas soaked in an infusion of tea leaves and spices, and flavoured with dried pomegranate.
With a goal of offering 'food and nutrition for all', Copper Chimney also says it works closely with Action Against Hunger 'to raise funds for the fight against hunger and malnutrition'.
The group’s arrival in Westfield London comes as a host of food and beverage operators prepare to open within the West London shopping centre.
Venezuelan-inspired fast casual concept Sabroso, and the latest addition to Bleecker Burger’s portfolio are both set to launch on The Balcony this month. While in November, Stevie Parle’s Pastaio will open its second London restaurant on the centre’s Southern Terrace.
It was also recently confirmed that high-profile restaurateur Alan Yau will open his Turkish street food brand Yamabahçe in Westfield London next year.
