Affordable steak restaurant Beef & Brew has closed its doors permanently after four years of trading.

In a statement posted on its website, the company says: “It is with great sadness that we have taken the decision to sell our premises and business.

“We would like to thank all our customers for their support over the years and we are sorry that we will no longer be here to feed you.”

Ex-Murano chef Jessica Simmons and former City worker Daniel Nathan launched the original Beef & Brew in Kentish Town in 2015, and it was previously recommended in the Michelin Guide.

In 2017 the team raised over £250,000 on equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs to help grow the business, and last year it opened a second site on the former Duke’s Brew & Que gastropub in Haggerston, which has also closed.

“We cannot claim that we got everything right all the time, but we are very proud of what we did achieve and of all the many happy customers we served along the way,” the statement continues.

“To our team past and present and of course our customers, we owe you a lifelong thank you.”
