Japanese restaurant Taka has taken on the former Providores and Tapa Room site in London’s Marylebone.

It is the second London location for Taka and will launch in April or May next year.

Brother and sister duo Andrew and Anastasia Datsenko launched Taka in Tokyo, before bringing the concept to London’s Shepherd’s Market in 2017.

The restaurant serves dishes including tataki, tempura and sashimi platters, alongside cocktails, sake and Japanese whiskies.

Chef Peter Gordon and general manager Michael McGrath ran The Providores and Tapa Room in Marylebone for 18 years until July, when they closed the restaurant to travel and pursue other projects.

The lease on the site runs until 2026.

Restaurant Property acted for Taka, while Shelley Sandzer acted for The Providores and Tapa Room on the deal.
