Polish restaurant chain North Fish lands first UK site
The group, which operates 47 restaurants in Poland, has signed a 10-year lease for a 1,511 sq ft unit at the Bullring shopping centre.
No opening date has been given, as the chain is still waiting for vacant possession from the current tenant.
North Fish believes there is a gap in the UK restaurant market for quality and convenient fish and seafood dishes.
The chain was founded in 2002 and specialises in ‘healthy’ menu items including battered squid and prawns; tuna burgers; and tortilla wraps filled with salmon.
After finding success in Polish shopping centres and high streets it is targeting growth in the UK, Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe.
“We are hungrier than ever to develop our brand globally and we’ve chosen the UK as the first region outside of our home market because we see here a great potential for our concept, which offers quality food for a reasonable price…I strongly believe that this will be just a beginning of our successful growth in the UK,” says Szymon Adamczuk, group CEO at the chain’s parent company North Food.
Property firm Savills advised North Fish on the deal and will continue to work with the group as it looks to expand.
North Fish said earlier this year it is looking to target UK shopping centres before expanding to high streets and transport hubs.
