Chef Simon Rogan’s Roganic restaurant in Hong Kong has been awarded a Michelin star less than a year after it opened.

The site launched in February and is billed as a ‘city-centric take’ on the chef’s farm-to-table restaurant of the same name in London, with micro herbs grown in fridges.

It has been awarded one star in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2020, with the red book’s inspectors praising ‘seemingly simple dishes that burst with flavour and amazing textures’.

Rogan now holds a total of five Michelin stars across his restaurant portfolio, including at L’Enclume (two stars) and Rogan & Co (one star) in Cartmel as well as Roganic in London (one star).

The chef wrote on Twitter: “Really happy and thankful to win Michelin star number 5 for our humble little restaurant group!”

Rogan also runs the Henrock restaurant on Lake Windemere and opened Aulis, his chef’s table and development kitchen concept, in Hong Kong earlier this year.
