Several high-profile restaurant industry figures have lent their support to the Bocuse d’Or UK Academy.

Team UK has recruited new ambassadors as part of its bid to put a chef on the podium in the 2021 competition.

Those lending their support are André Garrett (Corinthia Hotel London executive chef), Diego Masciaga (former Waterside Inn director and general manager), Hrishikesh Desai (Gilpin Hotel & Lake House executive chef), Lisa Goodwin-Allen (Northcote executive chef) and Matt Abé (chef de cuisine at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay).

As ambassadors for the UK the group will help build support through interviews and social media and participate in fundraising events.

The biennial Bocuse d’Or was founded in 1987 by the late chef Paul Bocuse and is considered one of the world’s toughest culinary competitions.

This year the UK is being represented by Ian Musgrave, a sous chef at The Ritz London. He will compete for a place in the 2021 world final at the European Heats in Tallinn, Estonia in June 2020.

“The Bocuse d’Or Team is growing and we are delighted and hugely grateful to have such an impressive set of individuals giving us their backing,” says Andreas Antona, chair of Bocuse d’Or UK Academy.

“With André, Hrishikesh, Lisa and Matt we now have some of the best chef talent in the country and Diego is a hospitality legend whose influence and passion will help us in our bid to give the contest the industry support it deserves.”
