Spanish restaurant group Camino is to open a third site in London’s Kings Cross next month.

Bar El Rincón will operate as a one-year pop up alongside the group’s Bar Pepito and Camino restaurant on Varnishers Yard.

The 35-cover wine and tapas bar will focus on sustainability, with Camino founder Richard Bigg sourcing a selection of wines that will only be available on tap.

Group executive chef Nacho del Campo will oversee the tapas menu, with new dishes set to include a vegan superfood salad of roasted patty pan pumpkin with mixed sprouts, kale and tabbouleh, pumpkin seeds and lemon zest.

Camino classics including black rice with cuttlefish, squid ink and aïoli; and prawns with garlic, chilli and white wine, will also feature.

“We were thrilled to be offered the courtyard site next door to Bar Pepito and Camino,” says Bigg.

“It’s a great opportunity to create a real Spanish Quarter for the local and wider community and we’re hoping to hold festivals and special events come summer.

“I’m also really excited about working with Borough Wines who’ll be delivering all wines in recyclable and refillable kegs, so no more glass bottles.”

Bigg founded Camino back in 2007; it currently operates four restaurants in Shoreditch, Bankside, Monument, and King’s Cross respectively, as well as Bar Pepito.
