The fresh line-up of chefs aiming to represent the Central region in the national finals includes Niall Keating, executive chef at two-Michelin-starred Whatley Manor Dining Room in the Cotswolds.
Also competing is Sally Abe, originally from Nottingham, who is head chef at the Michelin-starred Harwood Arms pub in London.
Alex Claridge, chef-owner at The Wilderness in Birmingham, and Derbyshire-born Dom Robinson, chef-owner at the Michelin-starred Blackbird in Berkshire, are also in the running.
The four competitors will be cooking a starter and fish course, judged by seasoned chef Paul Ainsworth.
This year's contest is designed to be tougher than previous series, with the number of chefs competing in each region increased from three to four. One contestant will also be sent home daily during the heats.
The 2020 series of Great British Menu is celebrating British success in children’s literature, and the Central competitors will theme their dishes around children’s fantasy fiction.
