Pret to reopen 10 sites in the capital

All 10 sites have been chosen because of their proximity to hospitals in the capital, and include locations in Vauxhall; Bloomsbury; Tooting; South Kensington; and Fitzrovia.

Takeaway will be available, with a maximum of six customers allowed in the stores at any one time; and delivery will be offered through third party partners such as Deliveroo. 

Each store will offer a limited menu of sandwiches, salads and baguettes; hot and cold drinks; baked goods; and snacks.

In addition, they will also be stocking a selection of essential grocery items including milk, butter, and tea.

Pret says that as well as extending its 50% discount for NHS staff until the end of April, it is also working with local hospitals to offer catering bundles to NHS workers.

It will also be donating 7,000 additional meals each week to its charity partners, which includes London-based food redistribution charity The Felix Project. 

In total 160 furloughed staff members have volunteered to run the stores.

“We are incredibly grateful to the team members who have volunteered to help reopen these shops,” says Pret CEO Pano Christou. 

“In doing so, this will help give frontline healthcare workers better access to freshly prepared food while also getting our supply chain up and running again to deliver food to the homeless.”
