St Austell launches ‘hero pint’ campaign for NHS staff battling Coronavirus and key workers

St Austell Brewery has launched a ‘hero pint’ campaign that encourages consumers to gift a pint of beer to NHS staff, key workers, and the "hundreds of heroes in-between".

Operating through the St Austell website, consumers can gift a £4.50 pint to any individual of their choice, and the pubco will match the price in its own donation to NHS Charities Together.

Pints can be claimed by recipients in any of St Austell 's managed sites, as well as the Tap Room at Hare Brewery in Bristol.

“Well done to all the team for getting this up and running,” Kevin Georgel, St Austell CEO, said on Twitter​.

“We are all seeing some inspiring examples of people going the extra mile to support each other and their community, step forward shine a light on them and buy them a pint and raise funds for our amazing NHS.”

This isn’t the first initiative launched by St Austell in response to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month, it offered free-of-charge rooms to NHS workers from the Royal Cornwall Hospital in its 33-room County Arms pub and hotel.

It has also teamed up with online wholesaler StarStock on an e-commerce platform to offer consumers essential groceries like bread, eggs and milk via click and collect.
