More restaurant operators in the UK have announced they are to test the waters of pivoting towards a takeaway or delivery-only model while the Coronavirus crisis continues.

With the likes of Nando’s, Shake Shack and MEATliquor all reopening select site in the past few days, both Wagamama and Bone Daddies have now said they will reopen certain locations in the next week.

Wagamama is to reopen four of its dark kitchen sites in total - three in London, and one in Leeds - with the first two, located in Peckham and Hackney respectively, due to open tomorrow (30 April).

Meanwhile, Bone Daddies is to launch a ‘BoneAtHome’ delivery and takeaway service next Monday (4 May), which will feature a limited menu and be available from its London sites in Bermondsey and Old Street.

In accordance with Government guidelines, Wagamama says it has put a number of safety measures in place to protect its teams and customers.

Staff will now have to complete mandatory health questionnaires at the start of each shift, and delivery drop offs will be contactless.

Wagamama CEO Emma Woods says the phased reopenings will form a ‘test and learn approach’ for the business, and a further rollout will depend on team and customer feedback.
