Chef Carl Clarke has launched a kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of a plant-based instant noodle brand.

Described as being 'nutritionally complete', Future Noodles are effectively designed as meal kits that can delivered directly to consumers at home, and prepared in a matter of minutes by adding boiling water from the kettle.

Made with a combination of whole wheat flour and super seed chia flour, Future Noodles will come in three flavours that take influence from across the world.

They include spicy kimchi, made with natural dehydrated kimchi, fresh dried chillies, Korean chilli flakes and spices; smokey shiitake and miso noodle soup, made to a Japanese recipe with dehydrated shiitakes, smokey mushroom, and tofu puffs; and super root yellow curry, featuring super root turmeric, lime leaf, coconut milk, and freshly ground spices.

If the kickstarter reaches its initial £50,000 target, Carl and his team will be able to launch production of one flavour; if £150,000 is raised, they can create all three.

Moreover, Future Noodles will launch with a ‘Buy One, Give One’ initiative, meaning that for every packet bought, Carl and his team will donate a Future Noodle meal with the aim to support those suffering from food poverty and homelessness.

If the kickstarter campaign target is reached, Future Noodles says it will be able to feed 50,000 vulnerable people by the end of 2020.

“Working long shifts in the kitchen, my late night snack would always be Japanese instant noodles and as banging as they tasted, I knew they weren’t good for me,” says Clarke, who co-founded the London-based fried chicken chains Chick 'n' Sours and Chik’n with David Wolanski.

“Aware that this is a worldwide problem and the busier our lives are, the unhealthier we all become, I started experimenting as I knew there must be a way to make instant noodles that were not only super tasty, but nutritionally complete. Having consulted some of the UK’s leading nutritionists, scientists and food innovators over the last year, Future Noodles was born.

"Fast forward and we’re in the middle of a worldwide pandemic but rather than delay, we’ve adapted and expedited. More so than ever, there are people in need, and we want to do something to help with Buy One, Give One.”
