World's 50 Best Restaurants launches 'Bid for Recovery' auction
The 'Bid for Recovery' auction, which is set to go live today (3 July) and will run until 12 July, will feature more than 150 lots that have been donated by the restaurants and chefs featured on the recent World’s 50 Best Restaurants lists, as well as by partner brands.
Lots include a day with chef Mauro Colagreco, whose restaurant Mirazur in France topped the World's 50 Best list last year; a two-day 'experience' in San Francisco hosted by Atelier Crenn and Petit Crenn chef patron Dominique Crenn; and a four-day tour of Singapore's thriving restaurant scene, including dinner at two-time Best Restaurant in Asia winner, Odette.
Funds raised will be used to give back to the hospitality sector through grants of up to US $5,000 per establishment, which businesses will be able to apply for later this month.
50 Best will also be making additional donations to number of non-profit organisations around the world that are working to support restaurants and bars at this time; and has also joined forces with the Social Gastronomy Movement, a global network of charitable organisations across 38 different countries, which is campaigning to provide one million meals to those most in need.

“This is a clear indication of the solidarity of the global restaurant community. Now we ask all those who love restaurants and are blessed with sufficient resources to take part in the auction and, crucially, spread the word to like-minded foodies across the world.”
50 Best for Recovery has also launched an e-cookbook entitled Home Comforts: simple lockdown recipes from the world’s best chefs and bartenders, which is available to download in exchange for a $10 minimum donation.
