Franchise group Black and White Hospitality has opened its 25th Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill restaurant, having recently launched a new site in Swansea.

Located in what is called J-Shed in the SA1 area of the city, it also marks the group's second opening in Wales under the flagship Steakhouse concept.

The new restaurant pays deference to the building’s industrial heritage with criss-crossed steel beams, exposed brick work and bare concrete ceilings.

Comprising 300 covers, the venue includes a newly configured bar and lounge, as well as an external drinking and dining area which wraps around the entire property.

A private dining area is also be available with an exclusive external terrace.

The opening of the new restaurant follows a deal between business partners Steve Lewis and Dave Bellis who took on the lease of the property, and Black and White Hospitality, which is the franchising arm of Pierre White’s restaurants.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have someone of Marco’s calibre open one of his restaurants in Swansea," says Bellis.

"This is great news for the city and is fantastic news for the regeneration of the area.

“It’s a hugely exciting addition that will, we believe, offer a first-class dining experience and is perfect for this stunning waterside location.”

The Steakhouse Bar & Grill menu, developed by Pierre White, includes 'a mix of childhood favourites and modern-day classics'.

Signature dishes include fillet steak served with fricassée of woodland mushrooms, extra virgin olive oil, vintage balsamico and buttered leaf spinach; the 'John Lennon' burger topped with melted cheddar, onion rings, and Colonel mustard mayonnaise; and roast rump of Moorland Lamb served with a chive blanket, rosemary roasting juice, buttered french beans and gratin dauphinoise.

“This is fantastic news for Swansea," says Black and White Hospitality CEO and chairman Nick Taplin.

“When we signed the deal back in February little did we know that we would be confronted with the Covid-19 pandemic which has hit the hospitality sector particularly hard.

"It therefore makes this opening even more remarkable."

Taplin adds that Black and White is now close to operating a total of 50 venues under the Pierre White's name.

Other Marco Pierre White concepts to feature in the Black and White Hospitality portfolio include Wheeler’s of St. James’s; Mr. White’s English Chophouse; Bardolino; and Wheeler's Fish & Chips.
