Netherlands-founded mono product restaurant The Avocado Show is to make its UK debut later this year in an as-yet undisclosed central London location.

Launched in Amsterdam in 2017, The Avocado Show has expanded internationally by way of a franchise model and has teamed up with an ‘established retail and hospitality group with operations in the UK and India’ for its inaugural London location.

The brand - which, thanks to its core product, has an enviable presence on social media - is looking to recruit over partners for ‘key cities and quality towns’ with Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge Guildford and Brighton among the locations mooted.

As its name suggests, The Avocado Show serves a menu that is focused on avocados. Dishes include nachos, poke bowls, salads, burgers, pancakes, avocado ‘fries’ and - of course - avocado toast.

The brand currently operates three restaurants in Amsterdam and a further site in Brussels. It has signed 19 franchise locations in Europe, the first of which will open in Madrid next month.

“We are very excited to see our dream becoming a reality in all these amazing new markets and are happy to have found these great partners to work with and are looking forward to establishing The Avocado Show across the globe as a socially responsible and profitable venture that will bring joy to avo lovers for years to come,” says co-founder Ron Simpson.

“The avocado has an enormous user group. It’s a 20 billion-euro industry, but a restaurant solely specialised in avocado’s, had yet to be opened,” he continues. “The starting point for us was to look at trends in society and food, and look at our own preferences.

“Our mono product needed to create nutritious meals, be a comfort food, produce beautiful dishes, be versatile and also be loved by vegans. Our main goal was to let people experience something that is so special, they choose to share it with others. Because telling a story is important to us. Our brand name is self-explanatory, so we don’t have to explain the what anymore, making it possible for us to tell people more about the why, tell them our story.”
