James Lowe and John Ogier’s Borough Market restaurant Flor will re-open in its original form later this month.

During lockdown, the wine bar and bakery offered high-end pizza for takeaway and delivery only but will revert back to creative small plates, bakery items and low intervention wines on 25 September.

Flor - which is little sister to highly-rated Shoreditch restaurant Lyle’s - will open from Tuesday to Saturday, with socially distanced seating and several new outdoor tables.

As before, the bijou , two-storey restaurant will offer coffee and pastries in the morning before moving onto more substantial dishes including Banh Xeo-style crispy savoury pancake stuffed with roasted Delica squash, cabbage slaw, herbs and pickles; and deep fried mozzarella and ‘nduja sandwiches.

Every Friday and Saturday, Flor will open its doors for brunch, serving dishes such as a beef tongue sandwich; smoked eel and black fig sourdough waffles; and a riff on the beloved kedgeree.

The kitchen will continue to be headed by Pamela Yung, a high profile pastry chef and baker who has run pizza pop ups around the world, including cooking at Bonci in Rome, with Massimo Laveglia at L’Industrie Pizzeria in New York, at Montreal’s Le Vin Papillon, and at Tartine Bakery in Seoul.

As Flor re-opens, ASAP Pizza will continue in the form of pizza parties in the coming months potentially themed around different regions or wine producers. To mark the end of the ASAP summer season at the restaurant, Yung and team will be serving pies and special slices from 12 midday until they sell out.
