Ramen bar Heddon Yokocho will open on London’s Heddon street in Mayfair next month.

Described as a ‘downtown retro-style’ 197os Tokyo ramen bar, featuring retro signage and brightly coloured lanterns, Heddon Yokocho will replace steak kitchen and sake bar Sakagura and will’ transport guests back in time to the yokocho alleyways of Japan.

The fast-casual restaurant will celebrate the history of ramen and the differences of regional ramen cuisine in Japan serving a variation of broths from across Japan, including those eaten in northern islands of Hokkaido and the southern tropical archipelagos of Kyushu.

Dishes will include tonkotsu ramen; Sapporo miso - a miso-based chicken and pork broth ramen, and Hakodate shio - a salt and miso-based broth ramen. The restaurant’s signature ramen - The Yokocho – will be a soy based chicken and pork broth ramen with slices of BBQ pork and topped with menma bamboo shoots, naruto fish cake, whole nitamago egg and nori seaweed.

A selection of karaage, buns, gyoza, and maki roll sushi will also feature on the menu.

The drinks list will feature a range of highballs, Japanese draft beer, a selection of chu-hi - Japanese alcoholic drinks traditionally made with shochu, and flavoured with lemon - and sake.
