Updated: Matt Worswick has since left Savoy Grill

Announcing the news of the appointment on Twitter, Gordon Ramsay said: “So happy to welcome Matt Worswick who is joining the Savoy Grill team as Executive Head Chef ... Welcome to the team Matt !! Gx.”

Worswick left the Michelin-starred The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, where he worked for a month under four years, at the end of last year to join The Shanghai EDITION hotel as its executive chef. He left the role during the Coronavirus pandemic to set up previous take out delivery concept Cook + Thief, where he was chef director.

The chef tweeted: “So happy to be a part of the new era @savoygrill as exec chef....exciting times ahead!!”

Worswick’s CV also includes time as executive head chef at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa in the Wirral and as head chef at Michelin-stared Glenapp Castle in Ballantrae, Girvan.

He began his career at St. Martins-on-the-Isle on The Isles of Scilly in 2005, where he spent four formative years before becoming sous chef at David Everritt-Matthias’ then two- Michelin starred restaurant Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham, where he worked two years.

He reached the finals short-list as champion of the North West on BBC's Great British Menu
