Independent restaurant delivery service Big Night is looking to raise £100,000 on crowdfunding platform Seedrs.

Launched during lockdown by The Laughing Heart owner Charlie Mellor and tech industry expert Pavel Baskakov, Big Night is looking to disrupt restaurant delivery with ‘fair pricing for restaurants, expert curation and superior service’.

There are 10 London restaurant currently on the platform including Luca, Levan, Super Ya Ramen, Two Lights and Mangal 2.

A further 10 restaurants have signed up to Big Night and are expected to launch within the next two months.

The cash from the crowdfund will be used to fund platform development, improve reliability and ‘create new exciting features for restaurants and customers’.

“We have come a long way in the last three months,” says Mellor. “Our work so far has allowed us to support the places we love through these challenging times by connecting them to their loyal customers’ homes. We are really proud of our achievements and are now looking to raise capital to build upon our initial success.”

Mellor says that Big Night is looking to ‘radically empower’ the independent restaurant community by offering ‘fair’ commissions of between 5% and 6.5% and charging customers a flat £1 delivery fee.

Big Night’s delivery drivers are paid a minimum London living wage per hour and can earn more depending on demand.

The platform has also confirmed Clerkenwell Boy as an investor and advisor.

The high profile influencer and author will work with the founders of Big Night to ‘curate the best local restaurants and bars, create special lockdown dishes and menus exclusive to Big Night clients, and advise on charity partnerships and food waste initiatives that focus on further giving back to the community’.
