Bella Italia has been named the best hospitality company in the UK to work for by job website Glassdoor.

The Italian restaurant brand, which is part of The Big Table Group, has ranked eighth on the overall list of companies across the UK in this year’s Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards. Other hospitality businesses to appear in the list include Nando's (number 12), Just Eat (20), Wagamama (43), and Greggs (49).

Bella Italia has been recognised for its performance in areas including care and investment in employees, culture, flexible working and work-life balance, according to Glassdoor.

Now in its seventh year, Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list is based on employee feedback and draws on reviews shared by UK-based employees between 22nOctober 2019 and 19 October 2020.

Current and former employees voluntarily and anonymously share insights and opinions about their work environments by sharing a company review. Employees are asked to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, senior management and work/life balance.

In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.

“In spite of all the difficulties that have presented themselves over the past 12 months, we haven’t been left disheartened as a team at Bella Italia,” says Lisa Gibbons, Bella Italia brand director.

“We’ve supported each other, recognising and respecting everyone, and the role they play in our famiglia.

“We work hard to build strong relationships – we love our team just as much as we love our guests and through our constant focus on our people and values, we have kept our fantastic employees at the heart of everything we do.”

To be considered for the UK award, a company must have at least 1,000 employees and have received at least 30 ratings across each of the eight workplace attributes from UK-based employees during the period of eligibility.
