Delivery platform Big Night goes nationwide
The new service complements Big Night’s existing on-demand hot food delivery service in London and sees mealkits from Darjeeling Express, The Laughing Heart, Luca, Levan and Legare available to homes across the UK.
This initial launch line up will soon be expanded to include more London restaurants and some restaurants from outside the capital.
Darjeeling Express will be offering chef patron Asma Khan’s famed chicken biryani (a vegan version is also available) alongside salad, raita, and tomato chutney.
Meanwhile high-end Clerkenwell Italian Luca will offer a fortnightly-changing feast menu for two that includes the likes of whipped salt cod, collard greens and cime di rapa; red wine bucatini with braised pork rib ragu; fillet of seabass, celeriac, January king cabbage, pancetta; and chocolate mousse and vanilla cream with a tutti frutti financier.
Launched during lockdown by The Laughing Heart owner Charlie Mellor and tech industry expert Pavel Baskakov, Big Night is looking to disrupt restaurant delivery with ‘fair pricing for restaurants, expert curation and superior service’.
Other London restaurant currently on the platform including Super Ya Ramen and Mangal 2.
Mellor says that Big Night is looking to ‘radically empower’ the independent restaurant community by offering ‘fair’ commissions of between 5% and 6.5% and charging customers a flat £1 delivery fee.
