Edinburgh-based pizza business Civerinos has chosen Portobello’s promenade for its latest by the slice joint.

Prom Slice follows the success of West Slice in Corstorphine and will initially launch for takeaway orders only before opening its indoor space for 20 alongside an outdoor area that will have 50 deckchairs overlooking the sea.

The menu will combine Civerinos classics with topping combos developed especially for the next location.

Renowned Edinburgh chef Tom Kitchin is designing an exclusive pizza for the opening week with all proceeds going to a local charity ahead of regular collaborations with other local businesses.

“I have always dreamt of opening in Portobello since I moved here seven years ago with my family,” says owner Michele Civiera. I just wanted somewhere to take the kids in the evening for pizza on the beach.”

“You can sit and look out to sea and enjoy an evening pizza with the whole family on the prom, it makes it extra special that it is in my neighbourhood which has always been a dream but something I think it also needed.”

The opening will take Civerinos up to five sites.
