Dishoom has been named the fourth best large company to work for as part of an annual listing compiled by Best Companies.

The Indian restaurant group, which was given a three-star rating, has also been named the best company to work for in the leisure and hospitality sector. Other businesses on the list include in that category include Hickory’s Smokehouse, which was ranked at number 11, The Coaching Inn Group at number 21, Peach Pub Company at 24, Hawksmoor at 27 and Mowgli Street Food at 28.

The UK’s Best Companies to Work For ranking uses a survey to determine an accreditation score. The scoring system ranges from ‘one to watch’ to a three-star accreditation for ‘world class’ levels of workplace engagement. The large company category considers businesses that have between 200 and 1,999 employees.

Responding to the accolade on Twitter, the company said: “Absolutely knocked for six to hear that we’ve just been named the 4th best place to work in the UK! After the toughest year imaginable, this good news couldn’t be more welcome. To our team: this a testament to your sheer, absolute awesomeness.

“It’s recognition for how each and every Dishoom-walla has supported one another through the pandemic in the most big-hearted, first-class way.”

This year’s rankings mark a decade of appearances in the top 100 for steakhouse group Hawksmoor and a fifth year that Peach Pub Company had been recognised. “It’s been a hard year to work in hospitality, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bleak future. The industry often thrives on ‘giving the UK its first job’, and there are plenty out there at the moment, but there are also places you can grow a meaningful, rewarding career,” said Hawksmoor MD Will Beckett on Twitter.

The Best Companies listings are based on anonymous questionnaires filled in by staff with questions asked on topics such as leadership, wellbeing, and pay.
