Langan's Brasserie to reopen in October for 'new generation of diners'

Legendary London restaurant Langan’s Brasserie will reopen in mid October with Graziano Arricale and James Hitchen at the helm.

The pair intend to bring back the elegance of the original Brasserie, which opened in 1976 as a joint venture between actor Michael Caine and restaurateur Peter Langan, but reimagined for a new generation of diners.

The restaurant will retain its British-French brasserie feel serving breakfast through dinner daily, with the menu featuring dishes such as beef tartare prepared at the table and spinach soufflé with anchovy sauce as well as Langan's fish pie and king crab croquettes. A raw seafood bar with oysters, caviar, dressed crabs and lobster will be the centrepiece of the dining room.

Each of the Mayfair restaurant’s floors will have its own distinct identity. The ground floor will be influenced by the designs of the roaring twenties with a piano bar that leads onto the dining room and then The Raw Bar while upstairs will be the members-only Langan’s Club lounge.

School friends Arricale and Hitchen both have restaurant backgrounds. Arricale has previously been operations director at Richard Caring’s Birley Clubs and is food and beverage operating partner at Oakley Capital and chairman of London-based Italian restaurant group Chucs, which currently operates six sites across the capital. Hitchen is the founder and former chief executive of East Coast Concepts.

“We are so proud to be bringing the new and reimagined Langan's Brasserie to London,” they say. “We look forward to creating a real hub for the locals of Mayfair along with those from the worlds of fashion, art, film and music to help us bring Langan’s back to its rightful place at the centre of Mayfair."

Langan’s, whose guests included Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Diana, Princess of Wales and Princess Margaret, closed its doors at the end of last year having become a victim of the Coronavirus pandemic.
