Kurt Zdesar will open a second London Chotto Matte in Marylebone Village early next year as part of a major expansion push for his upmarket Nikkei restaurant brand.

Chotto Matte - which was founded in Soho in 2013 and now operates two further sites in Miami and Toronto - has also secured new locations in Doha and San Francisco.

Earlier this year the group announced that it would launch a site in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh.

All the sites will launch by the end of next year with the brand’s second London location expected to open in January.

Both the Doha and Riyadh sites will be franchised but the San Francisco and Marylebone sites will be company owned.

“We are delighted to continue our expansion plans for Chotto Matte internationally. We cannot wait for the new phase of growth to allow more people to experience the very best of authentic innovative Nikkei cuisine, in stylish architectural spaces across the globe,” says Zdesar.

Originally from Australia, Zdesar helped launch Nobu in London as head of Nobu Europe and consulted for Alan Yau on Hakkasan before going on to establish dim sum chain Ping Pong.
