The mother and son duo behind London pubs including The Angel of Bow, Odette and Dominic Gibson are to open a bourbon bar and smokehouse in East London later this week.

On the site of the pair's short-lived Kisses from Nonna on Bow's Roman Road, The Bourbon is billed as an ‘atmospheric Stateside dive bar with added East London attitude’.

The venue will offer 40 different bourbons and serve a menu of barbecue dishes overseen by former The Ivy sous chef Sam Gordon.

The menu will include brisket, ribs and burnt ends with everything made in house apart from the bread, which will be sourced from Paul Rhodes Bakery in Greenwich.

The 'eclectic' interior will feature speakeasy-style red pendant lights sitting above the long bar, exposed brick, and graffiti and bold street-art of some of the soul greats, including Al Green, Ray Charles and Billie Holiday.

“East London’s certainly got its fair share of old-school dive bars, but with our focus on bourbon and bar food that is worth the hype, you might plan on ‘stopping-by’, but you’ll stay for the whole night,” says Odette Gibson.
